Top 10 Bathroom Spring Cleaning Tips
Posted under cleaning house tips
Like migratory bird patterns, humans find the changing of the seasons to be a time when our thoughts turn to spring cleaning. What seasonal patterns have to do with keeping our homes clean is a mystery, but it continues to be a factor nonetheless. It’s almost as if we only recognize the dirt, dust, clutter and debris only at certain times of the year.
After seeing my brother-in-law’s home however, I’m grateful for any reason, that would make him want to clean that filthy disgusting bathroom. [Smile]
The bathroom should be regularly cleaned if only to keep germs under control. There are some cleaning chores that can be done on a somewhat longer schedule than the weekly cleaning.
1. Take a look under the bathroom sink and you probably see a good collection of half used personal hygiene products. Go through each and every one of them and decide if they’re worth keeping. Some products like medicated shampoos and possibly suntan lotions are good to keep handy. That green strawberry mint flavored shampoo that promised that men would go wild but only gave you a rash could probably be tossed into the garbage.
2. Take a look at how you store all the paper goods to the bathroom. Are they organized and easily snagged when needed? If not, maybe it’s time to give those boxes of facial tissue and rolls of toilet paper, a place of their own.
3. Next up are the washcloths and towels. If you’re like most of us, we tend never to discard old towels. We end up with a pile of towels and actually only use the first one or two. If this sounds like you, take stock in how many towels and face cloths you actually need and send the rest to the rag box.
4. If you’re cabinet has drawers, they’re probably filled with miscellaneous hair decorations, bands, pins etc. Go through them and anything not used in the last 2 years should be thrown out.
5. Vacuum the inside of the vanity cabinet and drawers to remove hair and lose dirt. Heck, give them a good cleaning by getting one of those old washcloths damp with clear water.
6. Wash the liquid soap container or soap dish. Come on, you know that thing is disgusting, especially if you have children.
7. Use a vinegar solution or commercial product like CLR to remove bathroom scum and hard water deposits from bathtub or shower enclosures. Take down and wash any fabric shower curtains.
8. Use a 10% bleach solution in a spray bottle to remove any mold buildup in the tub area.
9. Check everything in the medicine cabinet and throw away any prescription or over-the-counter drugs that have passed their effective expiration date.
10. Replace that disgusting toilet brush with a new one.
By following through on this quick list, you will find a lot a lot less cluttered bathroom. Visit the site below for more information on how your vacuum cleaner can be used to speed up many household cleaning chores and find more quick house cleaning tips.

Spring cleaning a cluttered house?
I have lots of cutter in my home, 3 kids with more toys then a classroom full of kids could play with and way to many clothes for 5 people. I am so sick of the clutter and the messes. I want to get rid of EVERYTHING that I can. Does anyone have any tips for a GOOD spring cleaning for a beyond cluttered house? I could even use tips for cleaning thing, like house hold remedies for cleaning stains, carpet, hard wood floors, bathrooms, etc. Thanks!!!
I really only have a solution for clearing out clothes and toy clutter…
My rule of thumb is if i havent worn it or used it in a year…out it goes! Have everyone in your family go thru their clothes and if they havent worn it in a year AND if they wouldnt buy it if they were shopping today, then throw it in a basket or bag and take it to your local consignment shop or goodwill. Some second-hand stores will even pay you for your contribution….so call around and see who pays cash for what you give and you could even give out cash rewards to your kids for being clean and clutter free!
Otherwise, keep the receipt you get from goodwill for your contributions and itll be a tax deduction.

Yes good old clutter! I know exactly what you mean!
I usually do one room at the time this way I don’t get overwhelmed with the stuff , every year I go trough the same procedure , select and purge! If the clothes don’t fit anymore or no one wears them get a huge garbage bag and fill it to take to a local charity. I go trough every drawer and purge ,purge and purge! I use Murphy’s soap and wipe all the inside of the drawers and put a new scented liner down, then I move to the closet take everything out wash the walls shelves and put all the clothes that need to be dry cleaned on one pile and lateron they will be put away for next Winter, take all the Spring and Summer things out to be rewashed and ironed, and purge, purge and purge again! I take the curtains down and wash them or dry clean if yours are not washable , clean the windows and screen wash rthe walls and trims down I like Pine Sol for this it gives a nice smell of freshness the room . This is for one room ,then move on to the next and do the same thing , for the toys get bins and have the kids put things away when they are done playing for the day, I clean my wood floor with Murphy’s soap on occasion I wipe it down with a damp cloth and vinegar, I use to rent a steam cleaner until I bought my own now I can clean the carpet anytime that I wish to . Bathrooms I clean every day . For stains you can always keep a few cans of Club Soda available in case on emergency . And now that you are done ,take a break ! But remember that "Women ’s work is never done"

Get rid of all of the things that you don’t love or need. Anything else is just taking up space and causing clutter. Get several boxes or bags and label them keep, give away, sell, trash, etc. Go through each room like this. After you have declutterd then you can organize - make sure there is a place for everything, and make sure it returns to it’s ‘home’ after it’s been used. Go through the toys with your kids and get rid of the ones they don’t play with regularly or have outgrown. Take out all of the clothes from the closets and only keep the ones that fit and make you look and feel good.

If they haven’t played with it in at least 6 months, get rid of it. There are all kinds of places to take your used stuff. As long as it isn’t broken, domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, foster care agencies, orphanages, hospitals, day cars, etc… will all be lining up for it:-) This goes for the clothes as well. You get a clean house & make someone elses day at the same time. As for the home remedies for stubborn spots,
I am sorry. Hoped I helped a little:-)
